Last week Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Fayetteville, NY.  Amber and Nick just moved to Syracuse to work at the university and bought a home that a heavy smoker lived in for many years.  When I did the quote the signs of it were pretty obvious from the yellowed ceilings and strong odor of cigarette smoke.  To help cover the staining left behind I recommended priming all the walls with a high quality primer that would seal most of the smell. The house was still empty so I was able to save them a significant amount of money without having to move furniture and take alot more time prepping.  Their four bedroom split-levels ceilings and walls were two coated with PPG"s Seal-Grip Primer to start.  They planned to replace the doors and molding so on this project we did not paint them.  Prior to priming the walls dings and dents were repaired with joint compound, sanded, and cleaned.  By the end of last week the cleaning company had came through and the painting was completed leaving a ready to move home.  The smell of cigarette smoke was almost nonexistent when I did a walk thru with the homeowners at the end of the job.
