Interior Exterior House Painting Contractor Painter Syracuse NY

Recently Donigan Painting completed painting an interior in Dewitt, NY.  Terry and John just bought a home off of Maple that had not been updated since the 70's.  Walls covered in florals-checkered patterned wallpaper lined most of the house.  Thankfully there was only one layer to remove of wallpaper. After spending about a week removing old wallpaper, thoroughly cleaning the walls, then sanding them to smooth it was time for primer.  To start the painting process we used PPG's Seal-Grip Acrylic and applied one coat to all walls and ceilings.  Applying primer before you paint wallpapered walls, a smokers house or unpainted surfaces is absolutely necessary for a high quality finish to last.  Primer will keep the paint on longer and provides a sticky surface for new paint to stick to.  So don't skip the primer.  Once the primer had setup over night the ceilings through out the home were one coated with Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint for a nice bright contrast to the new wall color.  Two coats of Benjamin Moore Ultra-Spec Interior in Gray Owl-eggshell were applied to the walls.  Prior to painting nailholes, dings-dents, and inconsistencies on the ceilings and walls were floated out with joint compound-cleaned-sanded.  On each job before primer or paint is applied alot of time is spent prepping the walls-ceilings-molding-doors to get them ready for paint.  If you didn't know your molding-doors and walls need to be sanded before paint is applied.  This is done to remove little snags and the sheen or shine from the previous coat of paint.  This is crucial to the longevity of your paint job.  If you have ever painted before and did not know to clean and sand all areas before painting you may have ended up with paint easily scratching of because the surface it was applied to was not scuffed with a fine grit sandpaper so that the paint can actually stick.  Once the walls setup two coats of BM's Advanced semi-gloss were applied to the molding.  As always the molding and doors were sanded and cleaned before paint was applied.  Gaps and seams were caulked and nail holes were puttied before the finish coats. All hardware removed from doors and the molding was reinstalled as well as outlet-switch plates-registers-returns.
