Recently while we had warm weather this month in Syracuse Donigan Painting worked with a customer in Manlius.  Karen called for a quote because she wanted to have her exterior painted and ready to sell.  Her newer colonial did not need much prep work.  We pressure washed and did some minor scraping, mostly around the door brick mold, to remove loose paint.  Over all her house just needed a fresh coat of high quality paint to freshen it up.  We spot primed bare wood with PPG Primer and lightly sanded where we scraped to feather it in.  After the prep work was completed we applied one coat of Benjamin Moore Regal Select Exterior to the houses cedar clapboards, window-door molding, soffit, fascia-trim.   The garage doors and entry doors were painted the same colors using a satin finish making them easy to clean with out wearing off the paint with high traffic. We

caulked around windows and doors with silicone to seal out drafts.  Her deck was cleaned with deck wash then two coats of Cabot Solid Stain were applied.  It was also in excellent shape so prep work was minor for the deck.  She went with the same colors all around so we were able to make it an affordable repaint for her budget.  The house looks brand new and since it is only 10 years old it did not take much, beyond the skilled hands working on it, to shine this gem.

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a homeowner on Tipperary Hill.  Bill owns a rental property that was in need of a whole interior repaint.  From ceilings to walls to molding and doors everything needed a fresh coat of paint to get it market ready to rent.  After setting the date to start, signing the contract, a deposit, and finalizing colors we got right to work.  We began on a Monday morning at 8 am by removing wall paper in the bathroom, a tile back splash in the kitchen and  then floating plaster walls with joint compound where it was damaged and multiple layers of ancient wallpaper that would not remove were.  Next we applied a nice thick coat of Pittsburgh Ceiling paint to all rooms through out the second floor apartment with a half inch roller nap.  Following this the walls were cut in with the new color with Benjamin Moore's Ultra Spec Interior then rolled with two coats again cutting in before the second application.  The last day we sand scuffed the doors and molding then applied one coat of white semi gloss enamel.  On our way out the door we applied one coat of porch and floor enamel in battleship grey to the stairs risers-treads-stringers to complete this repaint.

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a customer in Sedgwick.  Shawn and his partner just remodeled their attic space into an office, bedroom, arts and crafts room, and a full bathroom.  New sheet rock and wainscoting were installed throughout.  They called a few months ago before the work was started for an estimate to paint the interior.  We had previously worked together many times with properties they managed throughout Syracuse so they knew what to expect and the price point for custom painting.  Once colors were finalized, the date was set, and the contract was signed we began work shortly after the general contractor finished.  The new sheet rock was primed with PPG Acrylic Primer then two coated with Benjamin Moore Regal Select Interior in various colors.  All the ceilings, including the stairways were two coated with Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint flat white.  The molding-doors were primed with the same product then painted with Ben Moore Impervo satin white. The wainscoting had multiple coats of the same products applied until it had a glass like finish to play off the limited light in that room.

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a homeowner in Cicero.  John and Jill wanted to update a bunch of their homes first floor rooms that had dated wallpaper and colors from another time.  They are getting ready to sell their family home to move to a ranch house for their golden years.  Since the Spring market will be heating up with many other sellers and buyers in the real estate market they wanted to have an edge over some of the newer homes in their area.  We started by establishing what would be the best colors to entice potential buyers.  Today's trendy choice has been light grays with bright whites on the molding and doors.  The chose to go with Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter in an eggshell finish for the walls, Impervo Satin Bright White, and Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint.  We removed the wallpaper from the kitchen, living room, and dining room.  Since it was newer old wallpaper it came off fairly easily and made prepping the walls for paint a much smoother process.  This involved thoroughly washing the walls, hand scraping off portions of paste and paper, and then finally sanding them with fine grit sandpaper for a smooth finish.  Once the nail holes were filled, the moldings gaps were caulked, and ceiling water stains were neutralized two coats of ceiling paint were applied.  Following this two coats of paint were applied to the walls to be finished with one coat of trim paint to the molding and doors.  The results are stunning and brought new life to a dated home that is now on par with all the rest in their neighborhood.

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a customer in Fayetteville.  Mike called to have some interior work done.  Previously we had painted the exterior of his home and replaced fascia trim on the front of his house.  His older home had settled and in many rooms the ceilings had cracked.  In addition he also wanted to paint his kitchen, entry hall, and two bedrooms.  After meeting with him and doing a walk through to assess exactly what needed to be done I gave him a price on the spot and followed up with a typed quote that listed in detail what would be done.  The contract was signed, colors were selected, the start date was set, and a deposit was sent.  The first day we started with floating out all the damaged ceilings with joint compound and then allowed them 12 hours to setup-dry.  The same day the kitchen and hallways wallpaper were removed, the walls were scrubbed clean, and inconsistencies were floated out on the plaster walls.  The next day we sanded out the ceilings then painted them twice, put one coat of paint on the kitchen, entry, and bedrooms walls after sanding and cleaning them.  Next, the second coat of paint was put on the walls in each room, the door-base-window molding was caulked to remove gaps.  The last day onsite we painted all the molding with one coat of Benjamin Moore's Impervo Satin White.  Benjamin Moore's Regal Select Interior in eggshell finishes were used for the walls and Pittsburgh's Ceiling paint for the ceilings.  He was very pleased with the results.

Recently Donigan Painting Worked with a customer in Syracuse's Sedgwick Neighborhood.  Jim and Cathy were looking to brighten up their large living room room and entry hall-stairway.  The original colors were tan.  I recommended a softer off whites to lighten the areas up.  After choosing colors from Sherwin-Williams Interior Collection we proceeded with Arcade White in the entry-stairway  and Westhighland White in the living room. We meticulously prepared the walls by floating out inconsistencies on the plaster walls, filling nail-screw holes and sanding the walls down to smooth for a glass like finish.  Once prep was completed two coats of Sherwin-Williams Cashmere in eggshell finish were applied, with sanding in between, to complete their project.  This spring they have contracted us to change out the color on their exterior trim and doors from a mint green to a soft beige.  As soon as the weather breaks and temperatures are consistently above 50 we will be there to complete their next project.
