Kitchen Cabinet Painting Interior Exterior Painting Contractor Syracuse New York

 Donigan Painting recently completed an interior kitchen cabinet repaint.  Amy just bought her first home and wanted to update her kitchen cabinets without spending a fortune on new ones.  Amy called because she wanted to enhance her older oak cabinets with new paint versus refacing or replacement at a much higher cost.  We met and discussed the options, my process, and the quote was tailored to her needs.  She accepted the quote, so we set a start date, signed the contract, finalized colors and got to work.  The first day at her home we removed the kitchen cabinets doors, drawers, hardware. Fortunately, her basement was clear and clean, so we used it as the painting -prep area for the doors and drawers.  We setup tables and sawhorses to place the doors and drawers on.  Painters' plastic was hung from the ceiling to contain the area and drop cloths were placed on the floor.  Each side of the cabinetry was sanded with a random orbital machine sander using fine grit to scuff the surfaces for maximum adhesion.  After each side was sanded, they were thoroughly vacuumed and wiped down to remove all dust.  One coat of Purcell's PPG Seal Grip Primer was sprayed onto each side of the doors, drawers, rail with a fine tip airless sprayer then dried for 12 hours.  The next day we lightly sanded everything again to scuff it and thoroughly cleaned it.  Holes in the doors and drawers from the old pulls were filled with wood putty, sanded, cleaned, spot primed.  Two topcoats of Benjamin Moore Advance Alkyd were sprayed onto all surfaces with 12 hours dry time in between coats.  Once everything had cured we reattached the hinges and replaced the cabinetry.  Amy picked larger u-shaped pulls that are 4 inches so we drilled for new hardware using a standard template for perfect symmetry.
