This week Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Camillus, NY. Joe and Nina decided it was time to update their living room, entries and kitchen. They wanted to take the darker earth tones to a lighter-brighter hue with white. Since there are a multitude of choices for whites these days I recommended a very popular choice among my customers this last year. Simple White by Benjamin Moore Paints in an eggshell finish was applied twice to the walls. Their ceilings were painted with Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint in what is considered bright-brilliant white for a fresh new contrast to the walls color. The doors and molding were scuffed, cleaned,caulked, puttied and two coated with the wall color using BM's Impervo Satin.

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Fayetteville, NY. Dina and Dave wanted to repaint their master bedroom, the bath and their kitchen. Since their house had not been painted in a while they wanted everything done in each room to include the ceilings, the walls, doors-molding. When we arrived all the furniture was centered in each room then covered with plastic. The floors were covered with drop clothes and any hardware was removed for streak-less finishes. Two coats of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint White were applied to set the stage for the wall color. Next two coats of Benjamin Moore Regal Select Interior in Revere Pewter were applied. Following this two coats of Advanced Semi-gloss Enamel was applied to the doors and molding. Prep work included sanding, cleaning all surfaces and repairing dings-dents with joint compound. Some minor caulking was done to seal seams and cracks on the molding. The walls were pole sanded to smooth for a glass like finish and the molding-doors were scuffed to dull their shine and provide a sticky surface for the paint to adhere to. Once all the painting was completed furniture was replaced and the rooms were moved back to their original configurations.

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Syracuse's Meadowbrook Neighborhood. Mike and Laura just purchased a new home that they wanted to update. The previous owner lived there for 50 years and had not updated since the 70's. The wallpaper was removed in half the house. Some protions of walls needed minor repairs made to dings-dents. The wood paneling in a few of the rooms was primed with PPG's Seal-Grip Alkyd Primer to prevent yellowing and bleed thru before two coats of finish paint were applied. They chose Benjamin Moore Simple White in an eggshell finish for the walls, BM's Impervo Satin White for the molding and Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint. Thorough preparation of the walls, ceilings, molding included vacuuming, wiping down, sanding, bleaching surfaces before primer or paint was applied. The molding throughout was scuffed to remove the shiny gloss finish then wiped down with a damp sponge and then caulked as needed. Bleach was sprayed on the water stains on the ceilings, allowed to dry then oil primer was applied. The walls nail holes were filled with joint compound then primed. Walls were pole sanded to remove irregularities so the finish coats were smooth and consistent. Next up refinishing 2000 sqft of hardwoods!

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior ceiling repair in Sedgwick. Bob and Effie called to have their ceilings textured. They just bought a home and to wrap up the interior remodel a bunch of spots on the ceiling needed to be textured with sand paint to match. Recessed lighting had been installed and Cooney HVAC had just completed some upgrades. To start their newly refinished hardwoods, granite, cabinets and furniture were covered with drops, plastic and tape. The walls in these areas were also taped and covered with plastic. Once some minor sanding was completed to make the ceilings flush the texturing began, One coat of Texolite Sand Paint was applied to match the existing pattern. After making it flawlessly seamless one coat of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint was applied to complete their renovation. Merry Christmas!

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior paint job in Syracuse's Sedgwick neighborhood. Sheryl called for a quote a couple of weeks ago to repaint her living room and dining room. The house had settled over the years and cracks had formed in the plaster and after 30 years she said it was time for an update. She was not sure of the color combinations she had picked out so samples were painted on the walls and molding. She decided to go with Simple White by Benjamin Moore in a flat finish for the walls and the same color in semi-gloss enamel for the window-door-crown molding and mantle. To start the hairline cracks were filled with a paint-able silicone caulk then topped off with joint compound to flush with the rest of the textured wall. The old window hardware was removed and wood puttied to get it ready for oil primer and two top coats of Advanced Semi-gloss by Benjamin Moore. Prior to top coating all the molding was hand-machine sanded to dull the finish then wiped clean. Caulk was applied as needed to gaps in the molding for a smooth-consistent surface. The ceilings were one coated with Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint. Regal Select flat was applied twice to the walls to pull it all together. Next up the enclosed front porch and hall-stairway with more plaster repair. Thanks for all the work! It was a pleasure doing business with you.

Last week Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in the Meadowbrook Neighborhood. Ryan and Lisa called for an estimate to repaint their first floor a few months ago. Their center colonials living room, dining room kitchen, sun porch and hallways were in need of an update. To start the wallpaper was removed in the living room and dining room to reveal plaster walls in need of repair. Extensive repairs were made to the walls using joint compound to float out all the inconsistencies. The crown-base-door-molding were thoroughly scuffed for new paint and cleaned. Once prep work was completed we started right in on two coating the ceilings with Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint. Following this the molding was two coated with Impervo satin bright white and then covered until the walls were finished. The walls in each room had various colors that were two coated with Benjamin Moores Regal Select Interior in an eggshell finish. This spring we will be back to paint the exterior!

Last week Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in one of Sedgwick's gems. Lauren and John recently bought a new home that needed some updating. The 90's wallpaper and decor was on it's way out like many of these older homes in the area. Wallpaper was removed from the living room, dining room, kitchen, stairway-hall. After the wall paper was removed the plaster walls were in rough shape and in need of extensive repair with portions of lathe being removed in two rooms from water damage. These two damaged areas had new sheetrock installed and the base molding replaced to match the original oak. Once the prep work was finished we primed all the walls with a high quality PPG acrylic primer. The ceilings throughout where one coated with Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint. Two coats of Benjamin Moore Regal Select Revere Pewter in an eggshell finish were applied for a uniform look. To pull it all together the doors and molding were two coated with Impervo in satin white finish after being sanded, caulked and cleaned.

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint for a customer in Dewitt, NY. Lauren called for a quote a few weeks ago to repaint the first floor of her colonial home. Her home was built 20 years ago and she was ready to update the look of her walls, ceilings, doors, and molding. In her home we went room by room so that her house was not in shambles while we worked there. Her furniture was centered and covered with plastic and the floors, cabinets-counters, were taped and masked. After the dings and dents were filled with joint compound and the walls-molding-doors were sanded we got right to the paint. We started with the ceilings with one coat of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint then moved to the walls with two coats of Benjamin Moore Regal Select Pewter in an eggshell finish for easy cleaning and little maintenance. The doors knobs were removed and replaced with each room so there would be no obvious brush strokes with each coat of BM's Impervo white satin finish. When we finished furniture was uncovered and replaced and we left her home clean so all she had to do was decorate.

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Syracuse, NY. Ted called for a quote a couple of months ago to brighten up his new home. Recently Donigan Painting completed a bathroom face-lift for a customer in Radisson, NY. Karen called us for a quote to remove a couple toilets, install new toilets-vanity top-faucet, and repaint the bathrooms. She was going out of town and needed it done before she returned in a few days so we got right to work. The older stlye toilets where removed as well as the vanity top-faucet and replaced with new fixtures. New water lines where ran and extra thick seals where installed to insure smooth visits to bathroom for years to come. Karen had leaky toilets whose seals where installed wrong and not tightened correctly leading to leaks and odors. Once the new faucet and toilets where set up they were tested and put right to work by yours truly. To pull it all together two coats of Sherwin Williams Snowbound flat were applied to the walls. Prior to painting the walls were repaired with jint compound to smooth out areas the original vanity top was glued to. The before and after pictures are below.

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Liverpool, NY. Amber and Kevin called for a free painting quote in September. After living in their home for a number of years and a few kids later they wanted to update the look of their main living areas. In the kitchen and living room border was removed from the walls. The two bathrooms wallpaper were removed and the walls were then repaired with joint compound. Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Baldwinsville, NY. Sharon called a few weeks ago for an estimate to paint her hallways-stairway-bathrooms. Recently Donigan Painting completed a repaint in Manlius, NY. Karen just bought a new home and wanted to personalize it with new paint that fit her style. After selecting a few earth tone colors from Purcell's Paints by Benjamin Moore we got right to work. Since the house was still empty we were able to save her some money with less setup costs. Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior painting job in Syracuse, NY. David and Dan called for a quote a few months ago to repaint their 1920's colonial on Fellows Ave. They had recently renovated their kitchen and bathrooms and wanted to complete the remodel by repainting most of their rooms. The furniture was being replaced so the house was very bare when we started. We covered the floors, furniture and surfaces with paper-plastic-tape and started cleaning and sanding walls and molding. The doors new chrome hardware was installed and all 25 doors were rehung.

Recently Donigan Painting wrapped up the outdoor season with a customers home in the Syracuse University area. Johns 1920'3 colonial had not been painted in over 20 years and needed alot of attention. We spent about two weeks scrapping loose paint, priming and caulking. John's house had a lot of dry rot so we lightly cleaned surfaces so no more damage would be done with high pressure washing or any other aggressive cleaning technique. Once the prep work was completed we applied two coats of high quality Benjamin Moore Exterior Paint in a flat white. Most of the paint was sprayed on and smaller areas were brushed and rolled. Recently Donigan Painting worked with a homeowner in Baldwinsville, NY. Jon and Lisa needed the interior of their new home in Radisson repainted. The dated colors needed a fresh coat of paint in most of their rooms. We started by selecting a neutral color that fit their taste to use thru out on the walls. In this case a light gray, Pewter, was used in an eggshell finish so it can be cleaned with out scuffing the finish. The ceilings were all hit with one coat of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint to start. Since they had not moved in yet we were able to cover all the floors with drop cloth's easily and fly thru the work since there was no furniture to move. Next all the trim was painted with one coat of Benjamin Moore Regal Select White in a semi-gloss finish. Some of the trim was new so all the nail holes were wood putty filled and all seams were caulked with a paintable acrylic. Following this two coats of Ben Moore Regal Select Pewter in the eggshell finish were then applied with a light sanding scuff in between coats for a smooth-glass like finish when the paint has cured.

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a homeowner in Manlius, NY. John and Marie are getting ready to sell their family home and needed to spruce the house up before putting it on the real estate market here. They were looking to paint their entry hallways, kitchen, living room, dining room and den a neutral gray to appeal to buyers. After taking care of the formalities we got right to work on their start date. We arrived at 8am and started by centering and covering all furniture in each room. Next we drop covered the floors to protect them, removed hardware, and taped-masked cabinets-counters. For this repaint they wanted the ceilings, walls and molding in room painted. So we applied one coat of high quality Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint, available at Purcell's in Syracuse, to start off in each room. The walls needed minor prep work filling dings-dents-holes and a quick pole sand to smooth them out for a glass-like finish. Next two coats of Benjamin Moore Regal Select Interior Revere Pewter in an eggshell finish were applied twice. Following this we one coated the molding with another Ben Moore product in a bright white satin finish to wrap this one up.

Recently Donigan Painting worked with homeowner in Dewitt, NY. Lisa and Joe called for a quote to paint the interior of their newly purchased home about a month ago. After the formalities were taken care of we arrived on the job bright and early and got to work. For this job the interiors kitchen,living room, dining room, den and the hallways were being painted. To start one coat of Pittsburgh Ceiling paint was applied to each room. Next we cut in each area then rolled out two coats of Benjamin Moore in Revere Pewter eggshell finish. Minimal prep work was needed and only very minor dings-dents were repaired. To wrap this one up we applied one coat of Impervo-Satin bright white to all the molding and doors then reassembled hardware. before each job we center furniture then cover it, drop cover all floors, remove hardware, tape out and mask as needed on every job. Since they had moved in a furniture moving charge did apply. Typically we center the big stuff and let the homeowner take down and move all keep sakes. Lisa and Joe were very happy with their interior painting and plan to have us do the exterior next spring!

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a homeowner in Eastwood. Claire and Rob called for a quote on the interior of their new home. The houses rooms had many different colors from the previous owner. Claire chose to go with one color throughout with two accent walls on opposite ends of the house. The walls needed a little prep work and some wallpaper had to be removed. We started with putting one coat of paint on the ceiling. Following this all the walls were two coated with Benjamin Moore Ultra Spec Interior Satin in Pewter. To finish this one up we one coated all the molding throughout with a semi-gloss enamel in bright white to pull it all together. The results are fantastic! She is already planning for the exterior repaint in the spring. Win-win

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a home owner in Manlius, NY. Lisa called for a quote to paint her living room and dining room. The dated 90's flower wallpaper had to go and I was the guy for the job. We began by removing all the wall paper and immediately cleaning up the areas. Once wall paper has been removed it needs to be thrown out so it does not dry to the floor or any other surface when its is reactivated. Following this the walls are thoroughly cleaned with hot water and scrubbed to remove the paste from the wallpaper. Next we applied joint compound to the inconsistencies on the plaster walls to float them out level for a smooth surface to paint on. We then sanded and cleaned the walls and applied PPG Seal-Grip Primer to seal the mud for new paint. Following this we applied two coats of Benjamin Moores Revere Pewter in an eggshell finish to the walls. The ceilings were painted with Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint. Her molding and doors were in good shape so we were able to save her some money by cleaning them up and masking them off during painting.

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a home owner in Liverpool, NY. The Walkers called for a quote a few months ago to have their home painted in September. Their split-level cedar shakes gray color had faded to light blue, they wanted to change the shutter color, and go with a darker gray and white combo to sharpen it up. To start the house was pressure washed to remove dirt-dust and allowed to dry out. Once it was dry we spot primed bare wood and then sprayed on a thick coat of Benjamin Moore Ultra-Spec Exterior Flat in a dark gray color. The shutters were cleaned, sanded and sprayed with a soft-gloss white and rehung. Their deck was also thoroughly pressure washed then sprayed with Arbor Coat Solid Stain by Ben Moore in Boston Red. To wrap this one up we rolled out the foundation in a light gray and replaced their deck furniture that was also stained. Thanks for all the work!

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a homeowner in Fayetteville, NY. Julie called with a hurry up order to have her daughters bedroom painted. After agreeing on the price we got right to work prepping the bedroom for new paint. To start we had the home owner remove all keep-sakes then we removed the bigger furniture or covered it. The walls needed some repair so joint compound was applied to nail holes, dings, dents. The original color of the room was a tangerine orange so one coat of PPG Seal Grip Primer was applied to the walls first. Next the ceiling was one coated with Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint from Purcell's Paints and Wallpaper. Three of the walls were then painted with a Hawthorne Yellow by Benjamin Moore Paint in an eggshell finish for easy clean and a low luster. The accent wall was painted in an off white also by Ben in an eggshell finish. This smaller paint job was wrapped up by 3 that day with all the furniture reset and a happy customer!

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a customer in Liverpool, NY. Nick called because the ceilings in his raised ranch had some water damage from ice damming last winter. His living rooms textured ceiling had large portions of it popping off the sheetrock. To start we dropped out the entire room, moved furniture, and made it bare as possible. Next we hand scraped the damaged portions of ceiling off leaving raw sheetrock and a straight-tight edge. Over the course of two days two coats of joint compound were applied to bring the damaged areas level with the rest of the ceiling. One coat of ceiling texture was then applied and a fresh coat of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint was applied to pull it all back together.

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a customer in Liverpool, NY. Kiersten called for a quote months ago for her home and we set the date shortly after she received it for August. Her white colonial needed a fresh coat of paint. She chose Benjamin Moore Patches for the body of the house with bright white for the soffit, trim and gutters. The shutters and garage door were painted with BM's black in a satin finish. To start we pressure washed all the chalky mess built up on her aluminum siding and bleached the mold-mildew. After it dried out we returned and sprayed out all the white followed by two coats of the main color both in flat sheens. Typically houses are painted with flat paint on the body of the home. Satins and semiglosses can be used on trim-molding. In between coats the shutters and garage door were sprayed out and replaced. This one turned out great and the owners are so pleased we are repainting the interior of their home this Fall.

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior painting job in Manlius, NY. Maria just bought a new home that needed some fresh paint. She chose Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter for all the walls in an eggshell finish for ease of cleaning. Luckily she had not moved in yet so moving around was a piece of cake and made getting the job done alot easier. Her hardwoods were all covered with drop cloths, cabinets and counters were covered with plastic, and base molding was taped off. Two coats of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint were applied to the ceilings throughout covering about 3,000 sqft. The doors and molding were in great shape so we were able to save her some money by not painting them. Her 3 bathrooms wallpaper was removed, the walls were thoroughly cleaned then sanded before paint. To wrap this job up we installed all new bright white switch-outlet covers in each room.

Recently Donigan Painting completed a barn in Camillus NY. Ron called to have his newly sided barn/office stained red. The new cedar was installed last year and had plenty of time to dry out before being stained. At roughly 6000 sqft we used about 30 gallons of stain. To stain board and batten you have to do one board at a time so it was quite a bit of up and down to get just the right finish. After two coats sprayed and brushed in the barn came out fantastic! The doors, trim and molding where accented with bright white stain to complete the look. Prep work for this project was pretty minimal. Everything was pressure washed prior to staining and allowed to dry for about a week. On this project Sherwin-Williams Woodscapes was used in Barn Red and Bright White. Staining is the best option for new wood. Whether it's a barn or your house knowing what product to apply can save you thousands of dollars in maintenance by having done right the first time with the right product. Using the correct product, prep work and applying it right all factor in to the quality of your paint job.

Interior Exterior House Painting Contractor Painter Deck Staining Syracuse NY

This week Donigan Painting worked with a homeowner in Baldwinsville, NY. Joe was referred to me by another long time customer. His living room and den needed to be painted and a portion of the walls needed to be replaced that had a brick fascade. To start all the sheetrock was cut out neatly, removed with out a mess, and taken to the dump. Next 4 new pieces of sheet rock were installed, taped, mudded, sanded, and primed. The ceiling in the den was two coated with Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint. A small 1x1 section of the ceiling was cut out and floated that had water damage from a leaky pipe in the bathroom above it. This area was floated out with joint compound 3 x's to get a flush -even look with the rest of the textured ceiling. The final touch for this patch was texturing the area with sand paint to match the rest of the rooms ceiling. Following this two coats of Benjamin Moore Regal Select White in an eggshell finish were applied to the walls, molding and doors. The living room was repainted in a lighter blue by Sherwin Williams called Upward. A few holes in the walls were also removed and California patched. We wrapped this job up by installing new base mold in the newly rocked cubby in his den.
