Interior Exterior Painting Painter Kitchen Cabinet Painting Syracuse New York Donigan Painting

Donigan Painting recently completed painting kitchen cabinets in Syracuse New York. Dave and Anna wanted to update their kitchen cabinets and counter tops without breaking the bank on new cabinets. Their Craftmade Cabinets were in excellent condition despite being 30 years old the raised panel doors still looked sharp. We met to take a close look at what the project entails and come up with a round number. I explained the process I use, why it works better than other companies, and that the work is guaranteed for the life of the cabinets. The process of refinishing stained or painted cabinets are alike with the exception of a primer coated needed for stained cabinets, oil primer. Since their cabinets were factory painted they did not need a primer coat, which saved them some money. With painted cabinets you machine sand them with fine grit sand paper, clean, caulk and thats all the prep work. Since they had a basement space that was free of clutter a make shift spray area was setup that contained the dust and spray with plastic. Each cabinet door was carefully removed from the hinge. The hardware including the pulls were all removed and stored. They planned to update the pulls with a wider pull so in this case the original screw holes were filled with wood putty and sanded flush before being spot primed. Two coats of Benjamin Moore Advance Alkyd were applied with a fine tip sprayer for a factory finish, no lap marks or dimpling from brushing or rolling. The paint dried for 24 hours before flipping them and painting. In between coats each door was lightly sanded to remove imperfections. The rails on the cabinets were all sanded and painted with the same process. Once the paint had setup for 48 hours the new pulls were drilled and hinges replaced before being rehung. Thak sfor all the work! The repaint tool one week to complete.

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Dewitt New York. Jane and Anthony just bought their first home next to Drumlins Gold Course. They wanted their split level ranch painted from top to bottom. We started with covering up all the hardwood floors with clean drop cloths, removing registers-covers-hardware, masking windows-cabinets-counters-fixtures with painters plastic. Prep work included repairs to the walls, sanding surfaces, cleaning. Once completed one coat od Sherwin Williams ProMar Ceiling was sprayed onto the ceilings. Following this two coats of Purcells Benjamin Moore were apply in Simply White brushed and rolled. The molding was two coated with Advance.

Donigan Painting recently completed an interior repaint in Skaneateles New York. Judge P called for a quote to paint the interior of his newly purchased cottage. The three-bedroom waterfront cottage had all wainscotting walls they wanted painted and along with the kitchen cabinets. Once the date was set, colors finalized, contract signed, deposit received work began about a month later. We started with centering and covering the furniture, covering the floors with clean drop cloths, removing hardware. Once setup was complete one coat of Zinsser's Oil Primer was applied to all the wood and cabinets. Gaps were caulked and loose boards were nailed down. Two coats of Purcells Benjamin Moore Regal select were applied to the walls brushed and rolled. The doors and molding were scuffed-cleaned then top coated twice with BM's Advance Alkyd bright white semigloss. Hardware was replaced and the rooms were reset to wrap this one up.

Donigan Painting recently completed an interior repaint in Fayetteville Manlius New York. Dr. G wanted his kitchen and living room updated with new colors. We met and discussed his specification, the date was set, colors finalized, contract signed, deposit received. work began a few weeks later and started promptly that Monday morning. We started with centering and covering the furniture in each room with new painters plastic. The carpet and hardwoods were covered with clean drop cloths. Register, covers and hardware were removed and stored. Repairs were made to the walls with joint compound-sanded-cleaned-spot primed. The walls and molding were cleaned-scuffed-caulked. A few water stains on the ceilings were oil primed to seal them then the ceilings were brushed and rolled with Sherwin Williams PorMar Ceiling Paint. Next two coats of SW's Cashmere in Classic Grey were applied. To wrap this beaut up we applied two coats of Purcells Benjamin Moore Advance Urethane to all the molding and reset the rooms.

Recently Donigan painting completed a kitchen cabinet repaint-refinishing in Dewitt New York. Ella and Jon have a huge kitchen with 45 cabinets including two islands that are different colors. The oak yellow finish was not cutting it anymore and they are getting ready to list their house. Once colors were finalized, the date was set, contract signed, deposit received work began promptly a few weeks later. To start we setup a spray booth in their large basement to work on the doors-drawers in a contained area to minimize dust etc. Each door and drawer were carefully removed, along with the hardware and placed on horses in the basement. Each side of the doors-drawers were lightly sanded with 220 grit to remove the sheen and promote maximum adhesion. Next each unit was thoroughly vacuumed and wiped down before one coat of Purcells PPG Seal Grip was sprayed on each side. In between coats the same preparation was used on the rails-cabinets then primed. After the primer setup for 24 hours the first coat of two were sprayed on each side with a fine tip. Once they had dried for 48 hours the hardware was reinstalled and each unit was replaced carefully. To wrap this one up we painted the kitchen walls a light grey and the doors-molding a bright white semigloss. Thanks for all the work!

Donigan Painting recently completed an interior repaint in Camillus New York. Ian and Lisa just bought their first home and wanted to update the colors. Their contemporary house had a range of colors that did not flow. After meeting with them to discuss their needs, finalizing colors, setting the start date, signing the contract, and receiving the deposit we were ready to start a few weeks later. Since they had not moved in yet setup was a breeze. Clean drop cloths were placed over all the hardwood floors and carpeting upstairs. Kitchen cabinets-counters-hardware-windows were taped and masked with paper-plastic. Switch -cover-register plates were removed and stored. 16 doors were removed from their jams and setup in their large two car garage in a spray jig. Preparation included repairs to the walls and ceilings with joint compound, sanding all surfaces for maximum adhesion and then clean them. A few areas of the ceilings had water stains that were primed with oil to seal them. Borders were removed from some of the walls and then thoroughly scraped and washed to remove the backer and paste. Next two coats of Sherwin Williams ProMar Ceiling Paint were sprayed on. Following these two coats of their choice colors were applied to each rooms walls brushed and rolled. In between coats the raised panel doors were lightly sanded-cleaned-then top coated with a fine tip sprayer for a factory finish in bright white. New hardware was installed, and the doors were rehung. Cleanup was a snap. Thaks for all the work!

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Syracuse Universities Westcott Neighborhood. Dan and Jane just bought a large Victorian home with lots of wallpaper. They wanted all the wallpaper removed and the entire interior repainted to their taste. We started with removing the 15 rooms wallpaper with DIF-steaming and a few other tried and true practices. Once the paper was removed most of the walls needed to be floated with a skim coat of joint compound to level them out. Next the walls were sanded to smooth and cleaned before one coat of PPG Seal Grip Primer was applied to seal the new mud. Once all the caulking and cleaning was done we applied two coats of ceiling paint followed by two coats of paint on the walls using Purcells Ultra Spec line. To wrap this house up we applied two coats of Benjamin Moore Advance urethane for a highly durable-lasting finish.
