This week Donigan Painting completed and interior repaint in Liverpool NY. Maryellen is a longtime customer who called because she needed here homes ceilings and a few rooms walls repainted to freshen it up. She really likes using bright white semi-gloss on her ceilings instead of your standard flat white paint because it reflects more light. Since she is living there and has a ton of stuff we started this job by taping and draping 8 foot plastic around all the walls so that pictures and furniture along them did not have to be moved or taken down. Some furniture was centered and covered with plastic, the floors were dropped out and hardware was taped off temporarily. To prep her ceilings cob webs and dust were vacuumed and damp wiped with a sponge to clean. Following this one coat of Sherwin-Williams Promar 200 bright white semi-gloss was applied throughout both floors of her home. Next two coats of SW's Cashmere in a tan eggshell finish were applied to the walls in her stairway and hall with pole sanding in between coats for a smooth-glass like finish. Once completed the plastic was taken down, furniture was replaced and floors were vacuumed.

Last week Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Jamesville, NY. Bailey and Derrick just moved in to their new home and wanted to personalize the house with their own taste in colors. As soon as the colors were picked out we went right to our local Sherwin-Williams and ordered the paint. To start we removed damaged sections of the ceilings throughout the house that had cracked or shifted from the house settling. The separated sections were cut out with a utility knife, cleaned, then filled with joint compound to be flush with the rest of the ceiling. Once these areas had set up new ceiling texture was applied to match the existing pattern. Following this one coat of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint was applied to all the ceilings. Special care was taken to protect their new oak hardwoods and furniture by taping and draping plastic over all of it and placing drop clothes throughout. Their wood molding was taped off around the base, doors and windows also. Next dings-dents were filled with joint compound on the walls then they were pole sanded to smooth for a glass like finish. Following the prep work two coats of Promar 200 Eggshell finish were applied to the walls. In addition to the painting their utility rooms wall that connected with their garage was repaired from significant water damage. About 6 inches from the floor up the wall was thoroughly water logged from run off in the garage that was cut out, allowed to dry with the help of a fan for two days then replaced with mold resistant sheet-rock, floated, and sanded to match the existing wall. It was recommended that they have a mason pitch their garage floor to the outside of their house so the water does not keep running into their interior wall causing water damage and mold. We'll be back as soon as the weather breaks to stain their house and deck!

This week Donigan Painting is kicking off the exterior painting season in Liverpool, NY. Nick needs to have his townhouse stained, is selling it and needs to satisfy his HOA's requirements. In order to make sure he is taken care of immediately and in compliance with his hoa we sent the paperwork out within 24hrs, signed off on the contract, finalized the colors, and set the start date as weather permitting. Luckily Puxatony Philly has Spring in the air early this year making it possible to get out this week and scrape and prep his townhouse. So to start all the peeling stain will be removed, contained, cleaned and disposed off as we work. Once this is done doors and windows will be caulked with a 25 year silicone caulk. Following this stain will be applied to the bare wood as a primer then hit again with a top coat. In Nick's case it's a front and back of a townhouse making it a quick two day job that will send him on his way, satisfy the hoa, and help sell his home.

Last week Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Dewitt, NY. Josh wanted to freshen up his living room, entry halls and kitchen with some new paint colors. After consulting a Sherwin-Williams rep he went with a few colors that fit his taste. To start one coat of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint was applied in each room. Next the walls were pole sanded to smooth, dings-dents were filled with joint compound, switch-outlet covers were removed, and any hardware was taken down and stored. Following this his wood molding was taped and covered with paper to protect it then the floors were covered with drop clothes, furniture was centered then draped with plastic, cabinets-counters were taped-draped with plastic. Two coats of Sherwin-Williams ProMar 200 in eggshell finishes were then applied to the walls. In between coats the walls were pole sanded with fine grit sandpaper for an ultra-smooth finish. To wrap this one up the rooms furniture was reset, hardware-covers were replaced and each room was vacuumed.

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Manlius, NY. Jen just bought a new home and wanted to completely change the colors in every room to suit her taste. She picked a neutral palate throughout the house. Her four bedroom 3000 square foot colonial was transformed to her ideal home within two weeks. To start we applied two coats of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint throughout each room. A few areas were primed with PPG's Seal Grip that had very dark colors, wallpaper was removed from her dining room, the sun porch's knotty pine was primed with oil based. Various cracks and sags were repaired with joint compound, sanded and primed. Two coats of Sherwin-Williams Cashmere Eggshell in her specified colors were applied to the walls. Before and in between coats of paint the walls were pole sanded so they were perfectly smooth. We wrapped this one up by applying Benjamin Moore's Impervo Satin Bright White to the base-door-window-crown molding after it had all been sand scuffed to remove the shiny finish then wiped down to clean.

For the past two weeks Donigan Painting had the pleasure of working in Savannah, NY. Matt and Bethanne called a few weeks ago because while they were out of town their boiler broke and saturated their home with all kinds of nasty smoke and resins. As a result their insurance company paid to have me repaint their entire interior and install a new drop ceiling in their large refinished basement. Initially you could see black smoke resin on almost all their walls and a smokey smell permeated through out the house. So when we began we started by wiping down the walls with bleach and water to neutralize the odor and clean the walls. Following this three coats of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint were applied to make the ceilings bright white again. Next the walls were pole sanded to smooth then three coats of Sherwin-Williams Super Paint were applied in many different colors in eggshell finish for easy cleaning and a light shine to reflect light. To wrap this one up 1200 sqft of drop ceiling tiles were cut and installed in their finished basement.

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior repaint in Syracuse's Sedgwick Neighborhood. John and Joanne wanted to freshen up their living room, kitchen, dining room, hallways and half bath. They were undecided on colors so I recommended making a visit to their local Sherwin-Williams retailer to look over colors that would fit their style. After consulting with the store rep they chose two colors. When we began we started by centering and covering all their furniture in each room. Drop clothes were meticulously laid out to protect their newly refinished oak floors. We pole sanded the walls for a smooth finish, filled dings-dents with joint compound, cleaned and primed as needed. One coat of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint was applied through out each area followed by two coats of Sherwin-Williams Cashmere in an Eggshell finish on the walls so that it was slightly shiny and easy to clean. We then sand scuffed the molding throughout, wiped it down, then apllied two coats of Benjamin Moore's Advanced Paint in a bright white semi-gloss finish. Once the painting was completed we reset the furniture and left each room spic and span.
