Recently Donigan Painting worked with a homeowner in Fayetteville, NY.  Julie called with a hurry up order to have her daughters bedroom painted.  After agreeing on the price we got right to work prepping the bedroom for new paint.  To start we had the home owner remove all keep-sakes then we removed the bigger furniture or covered it.  The walls needed some repair so joint compound was applied to nail holes, dings, dents.  The original color of the room was a tangerine orange so one coat of PPG Seal Grip Primer was applied to the walls first.  Next the ceiling was one coated with Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint from Purcell's Paints and Wallpaper.  Three of the walls were then painted with a Hawthorne Yellow by  Benjamin Moore Paint in an eggshell finish for easy clean and a low luster.  The accent wall was painted in an off white also by Ben in an eggshell finish.  This smaller paint job was wrapped up by 3 that day with all the furniture reset and a happy customer!

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a customer in Liverpool, NY.  Nick called because the ceilings in his raised ranch had some water damage from ice damming last winter.  His living rooms textured ceiling had large portions of it popping off the sheetrock.  To start we dropped out the entire room, moved furniture, and made it bare as possible.  Next we hand scraped the damaged portions of ceiling off leaving raw sheetrock and a straight-tight edge.  Over the course of two days two coats of joint compound were applied to bring the damaged areas level with the rest of the ceiling.  One coat of ceiling texture was then applied and a fresh coat of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint was applied to pull it all back together.

Recently Donigan Painting worked with a customer in Liverpool, NY.  Kiersten called for a quote months ago for her home and we set the date shortly after she received it for August.  Her white colonial needed a fresh coat of paint.  She chose Benjamin Moore Patches for the body of the house with bright white for the soffit, trim and gutters.  The shutters and garage door were painted with BM's black in a satin finish.  To start we pressure washed all the chalky mess built up on her aluminum siding and bleached the mold-mildew.  After it dried out we returned and sprayed out all the white followed by two coats of the main color both in flat sheens.  Typically houses are painted with flat paint on the body of the home.  Satins and semiglosses can be used on trim-molding.  In between coats the shutters and garage door were sprayed out and replaced.  This one turned out great and the owners are so pleased we are repainting the interior of their home this Fall.

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior painting job in Manlius, NY.  Maria just bought a new home that needed some fresh paint.  She chose Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter for all the walls in an eggshell finish for ease of cleaning.  Luckily she had not moved in yet so moving around was a piece of cake and made getting the job done alot easier.  Her hardwoods were all covered with drop cloths, cabinets and counters were covered with plastic, and base molding was taped off.  Two coats of Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint were applied to the ceilings throughout covering about 3,000 sqft.  The doors and molding were in great shape so we were able to save her some money by not painting them.  Her 3 bathrooms wallpaper was removed, the walls were thoroughly cleaned then sanded before paint.  To wrap this job up we installed all new bright white switch-outlet covers in each room.

Recently Donigan Painting completed a barn in Camillus NY.  Ron called to have his newly sided barn/office stained red.  The new cedar was installed last year and had plenty of time to dry out before being stained.  At roughly 6000 sqft we used about 30 gallons of stain.  To stain board and batten you have to do one board at a time so it was quite a bit of up and down to get just the right finish.  After two coats sprayed and brushed in the barn came out fantastic!  The doors, trim and molding where accented with bright white stain to complete the look.  Prep work for this project was pretty minimal.  Everything was pressure washed prior to staining and allowed to dry for about a week.  On this project Sherwin-Williams Woodscapes was used in Barn Red and Bright White.  Staining is the best option for new wood.  Whether it's a barn or your house knowing what product to apply can save you thousands of dollars in maintenance by having done right the first time with the right product.  Using the correct product, prep work and applying it right all factor in to the quality of your paint job.

This week Donigan Painting worked with a homeowner in Baldwinsville, NY.  Joe was referred to me by another long time customer.  His living room and den needed to be painted and a portion of the walls needed to be replaced that had a brick fascade.  To start all the sheetrock was cut out neatly, removed with out a mess, and taken to the dump.  Next 4 new pieces of sheet rock were installed, taped, mudded, sanded, and primed.  The ceiling in the den was two coated with Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint.  A small 1x1 section of the ceiling was cut out and floated that had water damage from a leaky pipe in the bathroom above it.  This area was floated out with joint compound 3 x's to get a flush -even look with the rest of the textured ceiling.   The final touch for this patch was texturing the area with sand paint to match the rest of the rooms ceiling.  Following this two coats of Benjamin Moore Regal Select White in an eggshell finish were applied to the walls, molding and doors.  The living room was repainted in a lighter blue by Sherwin Williams called Upward.  A few holes in the walls were also removed and California patched.  We wrapped this job up by installing new base mold in the newly rocked cubby in his den.

Recently Donigan Painting completed an interior painting project in the Syracuse University neighborhood.  Lisa just bought a home and the interior reflects a by gone time in need of updating.  Her 1920's colonial had tons of wallpaper that needed to be removed, extensive plaster repair to the walls and ceilings, and more or less a top to bottom overhaul with new paint.  For this repaint we spent the better part of a month preparing the surfaces by removing multiple layers of wallpaper, cleaning-sanding all surfaces being painted, floating-repairing wall damage through out.  The house is about 3000 sqft which includes 5 bedrooms, 2 baths, 3 large hallways, dining room, living room, 2 offices and the kitchen.  Once we completed the prep work the ceilings were two coated using Pittsburgh Ceiling Paint.  Next we applied a coat of PPG Seal-Grip Primer to the walls.  With older homes that have plaster applying primer before paint ensures the best finish.  Following the primer we two coated the walls with Benjamin Moore Regal Select Interior in Horizon eggshell through out.  We wrapped this beauty up with two coats of BM's Impervo Satin White on all the doors, base molding, balusters, stringers-risers, window molding.
