This week Donigan Painting worked with a customer in East Syracuse.  Fred and Mary had hired another painting company who pulled a no show the week they were scheduled to start.  From a referral they reached our company and we provided immediate sales and service.  Their home was originally a pale yellow that had faded over many years and become covered in mold and mildew.  We started the job by applying Tri-sodium Phosphate, Bleach and Simple Green cleaning solutions to remove dirt-dust-mold-mildew and the chalky resin buildup produced on older aluminum sided homes.  The shutters and downspouts were removed and loose siding was clipped back in place.  After the house dried two coats of Benjamin Moore's Ultra Spec Exterior in the color Green Bay were applied with a sprayer.  The shutters and garage door trim were two coated with Ben Moore's Twinkle Little Star Yellow in a pearl finish for a light shine-sheen.  The front door sidelights and molding was two coated with Sherwin-Williams A-100 White.  Once the paint was applied the downspouts and shutters were rehung.  Fred and Mary were so pleased with the results that they provided an online Google review with 5 stars and an excellent recommendation!  Here is how it turned out.

Yesterday Donigan Painting had the pleasure of working indoors at a customers home in Jamesville repainting the downstairs half bathroom.  A realtor referred my service to this couple and we came thru and delivered the results they asked for.  Joanne called me last week to provide a quote.  After they picked out the color at Purcell's Wallpaper & Paint Co in a Benjamin Moore product we set an immediate start date.  Their flexibility with the day helped it work with Syracuse's crazy weather.  Upon arrival the wood floor, vanity, toilet, light fixture were covered with paper and plastic and taped off.  A few problem areas on the walls were floated out with joint compound, sanded and cleaned.  Then two coats of the color Blue Bell in a satin sheen were applied to the walls and one coat of Regal Select bright white semi-gloss were applied to the door and molding.  They were very pleased with the results and have contracted me to repaint their master bathroom, install a new linoleum floor and shoe mold in a month. Typically it takes a few weeks to get to a customers project but with smaller day jobs like this if they can be flexible more than likely I can find a day during the week or weekend to make sure they are taken care of.

Earlier this week Donigan Painting worked at a realtors home in Manlius.  Sarah submitted the contact form Sunday evening from our website to receive a quote for ceiling repair in her master bathroom.  Monday morning I called her to set up an appointment to take a look at what they needed done.  At the appointment she explained to me that her husband had removed the ceiling texture that had begun to flake off and that she was concerned because they are putting their home up for sale on Wednesday.  After explaining that the whole ceiling would need to be floated out with joint compound, sanded, painted and  the quote was accepted she booked us for an immediate fix.  That afternoon I returned and floated the ceiling and the next morning returned early to sand and paint it.  The bathroom was left dust free and cleaned thoroughly before leaving.  Here is how it turned out!

This week Donigan Painting worked with a couple in Lyncourt to get their home ready to put up for sale.  Tim and Maggie's exterior needed some work to meet requirements for FHA Loan funding.  Peeling paint on the clapboards and fascia was hand scraped off and cleaned up.  Oil primer was applied to these areas so that the new paint would stick and stay.  We use oil vs latex or acrylic because it is the superior choice and provides a surface that you cannot scratch the paint off once applied.  After the Zinsser Oil Cover Stain was applied twice we top coated the problem areas with Benjamin Moore's Ultra Spec Exterior to match the current color scheme.  Here is how it turned out!  The home owners were very pleased with the results.

Over the last few weeks Donigan Painting has restored a 1920's colonial in the university neighborhood on Westcott Street.  The customer called me a few months ago to get a fast free quote for the exterior of his home.  When we met a day later to discuss his needs he told me how all of the contractors he called before me either dropped off a quote in his mailbox without meeting or never showed up. After spending about an hour with him we figured out that he wanted a high quality job that included ripping the cedar siding down to bare wood with the Paint Shaver System and sanding it smooth.  He choose a very labor intensive option that would remove years of paint that had become brittle and buckled up.  About two weeks of prep work was done before the bare wood was oil primed and coated twice with Benjamin Moore Ultra Spec Exterior in 4 colors.  This is a house you cannot miss driving down the street.  The results are fantastic with a very old home looking almost brand new after being restored.  Here is how it turned out!

This week Donigan Painting updated a 60's bathroom at a customers home in Liverpool NY.  The master bathroom had dated wallpaper from the 80's, no shower door and an old sink faucet.  The owners were on a budget and wanted to update it without a complete remodel.  We began by removing the flower wallpaper and the paste-residue.  After a thorough cleaning of the glue from the walls all the dings and dents were filled with joint compound then sanded.  Two coats of Sherwin-Williams Cashmere Marshmallow were applied in an eggshell finish to the walls and two coats of Eminence Flat Bright White Ceiling Paint were applied to the ceiling.  A new Delta glass shower door was installed on a their Contemporary Brushed Nickel Door Track in their tiled tub.  The sink was updated with a brushed nickel faucet to compliment the hardware through out the bathroom.

This week Donigan Painting worked with a customer in Skaneateles who needed the interior of their summer cottage painted.  Jim and Susan renovated their 50's style cottage over the winter and now needed the finishing touch with the interior walls, doors, kitchen cabinets and molding painted.  The knotty pine, kitchen cabinets, new doors and molding were primed twice with Zinsser's All-Prime Shellac based primer in white and light grey to cover knots-tannins.  The new kitchen cabinets and old were prepped and primed as well.  The old pulls and hardware were removed and filled with wood putty then sanded.  Door hardware and hinges were removed for smoother finishes.  All holes big and small thru-out the pine were filled with wood putty or caulk.  The new wood flooring was covered with rosin paper.  Once the prep was completed two coats of Benjamin Moore Ultra-Spec 500 Edgecomb Gray eggshell were applied to the walls, two coats of White Down in pearl sheen to the doors/molding and two coats of Advanced Alkyd Edgecomb Gray satin were applied to the kitchen cabinets. Here are before and after pics of the completed work.  The GC is reinstalling the new hardware on the kitchen cabinets and hanging them.
