Recently Donigan painting completed an exterior repaint in Dewitt, New York. Dan just bought his first house and wanted the exterior cedar clapboard stained. Last winter before Dan moved here, I painted the entire interior top to bottom. This fall while the weather was still warm the house was pressure washed to remove dirt, dust, cobwebs, etc. After drying out we began prep work that included hand scraping-cutting back peeling paint and stain. We clean as we go and follow environmentally safe practices for debris. Next, we hand, and machine sanded areas to feather them in for consistency. Gaps and seams were caulked with 30 years paintable siliconized caulk. One coat of bright white eggshell exterior paint from Sherwin Williams product Super Paint was brushed and sprayed on the window molding, fascia, soffit, doors. Following this two coats of Purcell's Arbor Coat Solid stain were applied. After the shutters were cleaned and sanded one coat of antique white was sprayed on and they were rehung.
